The HanuMan director urges media to refrain from one-sided reporting as his feud with producer K Niranjan Reddy remains sub-judice.

Filmmaker Prasanth Varma, best known for creating the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU) and directing the blockbuster HanuMan, has finally responded to the growing controversy surrounding his ongoing dispute with production house M/S Primeshow Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. The director took to social media to issue an official statement, clarifying his stance and requesting media restraint.

In his note, Prasanth stated that the matter between him and the production house is currently sub-judice and under consideration before the Telugu Film Chamber and the Telugu Film Directors’ Association. “Any attempt to publish internal pleadings, emails, agreements or financial details at this stage amounts to interference with the proceedings and is clearly intended to prejudice public opinion,” the filmmaker wrote. He further asserted, “I categorically state that the allegations made against me are all false, baseless and retaliatory.”

Prasanth’s statement comes in response to serious accusations made by producer K Niranjan Reddy of Primeshow Entertainment. In a complaint filed with the Telugu Film Producers Council last month, Reddy alleged that the director failed to honour commitments despite having received multiple payments for projects like Adhira, Mahakali, Jai Hanuman, and Brahma Rakshas, which were all meant to be part of the expanding PVCU. The producer claimed to have paid the filmmaker over Rs. 20 crore across various stages, accusing him of diverting projects to other banners and breaching their agreement.

The complaint also mentioned that Reddy is seeking Rs. 200 crore in damages, including Rs. 100 crore for Jai Hanuman, a film that was expected to be a sequel to HanuMan.

In his written reply to the Film Chamber on October 27, Prasanth reportedly denied all allegations, asserting that despite HanuMan’s massive Rs. 295 crore worldwide earnings, he was paid only Rs. 7 crore and received no share of the profits as per their agreement. The director also maintained that he had been asking the production house to clear his pending dues.

By sharing his official statement publicly, Prasanth Varma has urged the media to verify information before publication and avoid one-sided narratives while the matter remains legally unresolved. As the filmmaker’s ambitious cinematic universe continues to attract attention, all eyes are now on how this high-profile industry dispute unfolds.
