R Madhavan won at the National Film Awards 2023 for his debut directorial, Rocketry: The Nambi Effect. Music maestro AR Rahman called Madhavan's film better than Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. At the 69th National Film Awards, the film was awarded the Best Feature Film award.
On Friday, A.R Rahman took to Twitter, and wrote, “Congrats Madhavan….I still remember the impact of your movie watching at Cannes … have to confess now (great timing)… I liked yours better than #Oppenheimer.”

This biographical drama is based on the life of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, who was framed for espionage and imprisoned in 1994. The film chronicles his achievements, passion for the country's space mission, unmatched dedication and the accusation that eventually became the biggest personal and professional setback of his life.
Produced by Tricolour Films, Varghese Moolan Pictures, the film stars R. Madhavan in the lead and marks his directorial debut. It also features talented actors like Simran and Ranjit Kapoor, and includes a special cameo role by Suriya.
