In a shocking turn of recent events, the Tamil Film Producers Council announced a strike in November alleging that several producers were caught in a dilemma after actors promised projects, took advance payments but refused to grant dates leaving projects in a limbo. Among the accusations, actor Dhanush faced major repercussions as the TFPC issued a notice asking producers to consult them before signing the actor for films until he completes his impending projects. Meanwhile, Nadigar Sangam has come in support of the actor.

Nadigar Sangam has issued a press release on Wednesday, July 31, in response to the allegations made by the TFPC, wherein they have asserted that they have not made any allegations against the Raayan actor. "We would like to point out that no complaint has been lodged against Mr. Dhanush by the Tamil Film Producers to date, and no complaint is pending against him.” Furthermore, the association also expressed their anger in not involving them before accusing the actor or informing them about Tamil Cinema going on a strike. Popular star Karthi, who is part of NS along with stalwarts like Naseer, also issued a statement to the media regarding the same and requested the TFPC to hold a meeting along with Nadigar Sangam to arrive at an amicable solution in the matter.

For the unversed, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC) announced a temporary halt to the commencement of new film projects from August 16, 2024, and a complete shutdown of all film-related activities from November 1, 2024. This comes in response to a backlog of films in various stages of production and a spiralling increase in production costs, primarily driven by escalating artist remuneration. Actor Dhanush came in scrutiny particularly in this matter, following allegations by Sri Thenandal Films of receiving an advance payment without fulfilling contractual obligations. Producers have been advised to seek clearance from the Tamil Film Producers Association before initiating new projects with Dhanush.
