Four years after the success of the blockbuster film Lucifer, the team has begun shooting for its sequel, L2E- Empuraan. Mohanlal reprises his iconic role as Khureshi-Ab’raam aka Stephen Nedumpally in the film, which is being directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran will also reprise their respective characters from the first film. The film is one of the most highly anticipated Malayalam films of the year. The shooting began with a puja ceremony on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Prithviraj, Mohanlal, producer Antony Perumbavoor, and writer Murali Gopy attended the ceremony.
L2E- Empuraan will be a Pan-India film and will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. It will be jointly produced by Antony Perumbavoor's Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. This film also marks Lyca Productions' entry into the Malayalam film industry.

The makers also released a promo announcing the return of Khureshi-Ab’raam aka Stephen Nedumpally. While launching the promo, Prithviraj wrote a long note in the caption, "L2E- Empuraan. It’s an honour for the ‘L’ team to welcome Lyca Productions to the Malayalam Cinema industry. Jointly produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions, the 2nd instalment of the LUCIFER franchise starts rolling from 5th October 2023."
Lucifer was one of the biggest box office successes in Malayalam cinema and was remade in Telugu, titled GodFather with Chiranjeevi, Nayanthara, and Salman Khan portraying the same characters originally played by Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, and Prithviraj in the Malayalam version.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of L2E- Empuraan, which is expected to be a thrilling and action-packed film.
