Malavika Mohanan has been slowly gaining recognition for her work across multiple languages after she made her debut in Malayalam years ago. Recently, the actress received much love and acclaim for her performance in the period historical fantasy drama Thangalaan and later in the action-packed Yudhra. While showcasing versatility across different genres, her unconventional role as Aarathi in the film starring Chiyaan Vikram has become a talking point. In a recent interview, Malavika spoke about the love she received for the role and how she is happy with the response.

“Every film has its own journey. The more films you do, you realize that the only thing you can do is give your best while you're working on it-give it your all, so that you don't have any creative regrets or feel like you haven't done your best,” shared Malavika. She further added, "But after that, the film really is in the hands of the film gods, it's what I always say. You can't control what happens after the film is released)". Talking about her performance in the historical fantasy drama, Malavika said, "For Thangalaan, I'm happy that I got an amazing response for my performance. It was one of the hardest roles I've ever done, being both physically and mentally challenging. As for Yudhra, it is what it is. Onto the next round.”

For the unversed, Malavika played a Goddess in the historical fantasy where her character was a fierce, magical entity named Aarathi. Inspired by true events that transpired in the Kolar Gold Field, Thangalaan was set in the early British Raj and also featured Parvathy Thiruvothu in a key role. It released on August 15 in multiple languages.

Meanwhile, as of now, Malavika Mohanan is busy wrapping up her Telugu debut The Raja Saab where she will feature alongside Prabhas, Nidhhi Agerwal, and an ensemble supporting cast. Directed by Maruthi, the film is touted to be a horror-comedy. Apart from this, Malavika also has the spy-thriller, Sardar 2 starring Karthi in the pipeline.
