17 years after the release of Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi, Lyca Productions has announced the sequel to the film. The film was a remake of the 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhum. The Malayalam film was remade in multiple languages including Hindi as Bhool Bhulaiyaa. While the original film never had a sequel, the Hindi counterpart was the first to turn the film into a franchise with Bhool Bhuliayaa 2 releasing in theaters last month. Now, Tamil film industry will see a sequel to Chandramukhi with Raghava Lawrence in the lead.
Chandramukhi 2 will be directed by P Vasu who also directed the Rajinikanth starrer. The music will be composed by MM Keeravaani, while the cinematography will be handled by RD Rajasekar. Vadivelu who essayed the role of Murugesan in the first film will be returning for the sequel.

The makers are yet to announce the rest of the cast of the film including the lead actress. It is also unclear if Chandramukhi 2 will take its storyline from the recent smash-hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan, Tabu, and Kiara Advani.
