L2 Empuraan: Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal announce release date; share new poster : Bollywood News

Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal will reunite as not just filmmaker and leading man but as actors too in the upcoming highly-anticipated sequel to 2019 film Lucifer – L2: Empuraan. The film has been on the news ever since its announcement and on the occasion of Diwali, the makers of this massy entertainer have dropped a major update that stirred much excitement among fans who are eagerly awaiting its release.

On Friday, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Mohanlal unveiled the release date of the film to be March 27, 2025 and along with the same, also shared a poster of a man with his back facing the camera and a red dragon tattoo grabbing eyeballs. The poster received much love from fans on social media who dropped heart and fire emojis to showcase their happiness and excitement. Interestingly, the release date locked by the filmmakers falls quite close to the festival called Ugadi which is a New Year’s Day according to the Hindu calendar and is celebrated in several parts across the country.

Coming to the film, L2: Empuraan will mark the return of Mohanlal as Stephen Nedumpally along with Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas who are also expected to reprise their characters from the prequel. Going by the earlier announcements made by the team, the film will give audiences deeper insight into the life of Stephen turning into Khureshi Ab’raam along with Prithviraj too playing the key role of his warrior and confidante Zayed Maqsood. Also directed by Prithviraj, the film will feature a host of ensemble stars in supporting roles with music composed by Deepak Dev, cinematography by Sujith Vassudev, and film editing by Akhilesh Mohan.
