The blockbuster success of Kantara, which released in 2022, was taken a notch higher as it received several accolades at the recently held Filmfare South Awards 2023. Actor, director, and writer Rishab Shetty put together his multitude skills to create a never-seen-before experience for audiences with the fantasy action entertainer and now, as he gears up to shoot a new chapter of the franchise, the film has managed to bag six major awards at the prestigious Filmfare.

From Best Film to Best Actor, Kantara wins big

While it's been a long time since the film's release, the fervor doesn't seem to settle down. The film has now secured its phenomenal triumph at the 68th Filmfare Awards South 2023 by taking home awards in major categories. The film won awards in the following categories: Best Film (Kannada), Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) - Kannada won by Rishab Shetty, Best Music Album (Kannada) won by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) - Kannada won by Achyuth Kumar, Best Actress (Critics) - Kannada won by Sapthami Gowda, and Best Playback Singer (Male) - Kannada won by Sai Vignesh for the song, ‘Varaha Roopam’. About Kantara franchise

While the 2022 film continues to make news, Hombale Films and Rishab Shetty have plans to take the franchise ahead. In fact, the makers have already announced a sequel titled Kantara Chapter 1 which will explain the origin of the folklore that was a part of the first installment. The film is expected to have already gone on floors in Karnataka.
