Following the massive success of Hombale Films’ Kannada movie Kantara, Rishab Shetty is all set to kick off the sequel in November 2023. The makers have been busy fine-tuning the script and pre-production stage of the movie. Now, they are all set to take the project on the floors in late 2023. They are also eyeing late 2024 as the release date for Kantara 2.

As per a report in Pinkvilla, a source informed the web portal that the plan is to kick off the project in late 2023 and the makers hope that it is wrapped by the first quarter of 2024. The source revealed, “Rishab Shetty and his team have finished the writing and are currently immersed in pre-production. While the first part was shot in Shetty's hometown in Kundapura, Kantara 2 will prominently be shot in Mangalore. This location encompasses the required elements of jungle, land, and water as dictated by the script. The film has got bigger in budget and cast this time and will be filmed on a larger scale over a four-month schedule.”

Kantara is a story of a human and nature conflict where Shiva is a rebel who defends his village and nature. Death leads to war between villagers and evil forces. Helmed by Rishab Shetty, and produced by Vijay Kiragandur, under Hombale Films, the film was released in theatres last September. The film emerged as the second highest-grossing Kannada film of all time after K.G.F: Chapter 2.
