Actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan recently played host to Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed Mexican director celebrated for his cinematic masterpieces such as Roma, Gravity, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Kamal Haasan, along with music maestro AR Rahman and director extraordinaire Mani Ratnam, welcomed Cuarón to the vibrant cultural hub of Chennai. Among the attendees were also actor Siddharth and actress, his fiancé Aditi Rao Hydari.

The guests indulged in a feast fit for connoisseurs, relishing the flavors of the season. Ripe mangoes, a quintessential summer delight, took center stage, adding a touch of tropical sweetness to the proceedings. Actor Siddharth humorously remarked on the cultural fusion with his quip, ‘Alfonso meets Banganapalli’. Sharing pictures, Haasan wrote, “Met Mr Alfonso Cuarón my brethren and an offspring from the same mother ‘cinema’. We spoke cinema, cinema and more cinema.”

He continued, “I shared my joy over lunch along with the seasons' mangoes and some of my fraternity Mr Maniratnam, Mr A.R.Rahman, Mr Ravi K Chandran, Mr Mahendran, Mr Narayanan, Ms Aditi Rao Hydari, Mr Siddharth and Ms Amritha. ‘Alfonso meets Banganapalli,’ quipped Mr Siddharth.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Kamal Haasan’s next project is Indian 2, the sequel to his 1996 hit Indian. Directed by S Shankar, Indian 2 is set to hit theatres in June 2024 and features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh and Kajal Aggarwal.
