Jayam Ravi, best known as Ponniyin Selvan from the Mani Ratnam magnum opus, has kicked off his divorce proceedings with long-time wife Aarti. The couple have been in news for the past month after the actor made a public announcement regarding his separation which has further led to accusations being thrown at each other. Furthermore, the actor’s name was also being linked to spiritual healer Kenishaa Francis which has further led to speculations. Shutting down these rumours, Ravi has insisted about sharing a professional relationship with her.
Jayam Ravi reacts to link-up rumours with spiritual healer Kenishaa Francis amid divorce with Aarti; says, “Why should anyone drag a third person unnecessarily into this issue?”In a recent heartfelt interaction with Hindustan Times, Jayam Ravi addressed several reports about divorce that have been doing the rounds in media recently. Among that, he also spoke about his relationship with Kenishaa Francis and requested everyone to refrain from dragging a third party’s name in the personal matter of his divorce with Aarti. He said, “How did these rumours about this person start? Why should anyone drag a third person unnecessarily into this issue? I plan to start a spiritual healing centre with Kenishaa, and we are looking for some suitable location. My divorce has nothing to do with this. This reflects badly on me, and it also reflects badly for others involved, like our families.”
In the same report, he also responded to rumours of Aarti approaching for him reconciliation wherein he insisted that she has never contacted him regarding this. “I want a divorce. If Aarti wanted to reconcile as she states, why has she not reached out to me? Why has she not responded to the two legal notices I sent? Does this behaviour look like she wanted to reconcile with me? Will there be news about a ‘girlfriend’ if the intention was to reconcile?” he asked.
Meanwhile, for the unversed, let us remind you that the couple are also parents to two children – Aarav and Ayan who are 14- and 8-year-old respectively. He revealed that he has already spoken to his elder son, since he is a teenager, about the impending divorce. “Aarav is 14 years old, and he can understand, so I explained the whole situation to him. Ayaan is just eight and too small to understand,” he added. He went on to mention that he would want his children to stay with him and shared, “Yes, I want custody of my children – Aarav and Ayaan. I am ready to fight this divorce out in the court for 10 years or 20 years or however long it takes. My future is my children; they are my happiness”.
Along with this, the actor also revealed that the divorce proceedings will start from next month onwards. “The case is in court and the first hearing is coming up in October. Going forward, I’ll do everything legally. There’s no going back – I want a divorce,” he concluded.
