Indian 2, which marks the return of one of Kamal Haasan’s most appreciated character of Senapathy – a former freedom fighter turned vigilante, has been garnering ample anticipation from the masses who are eager to see the Tamil megastar in action. Co-starring Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh in key roles, the film will have music composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Recently as S Shankar opened up about his process of shooting for the film, he also revealed how he chose his music composer for the film.

A R Rahman composed the score of Indian in the 90s

It is a known fact that A R Rahman composed the music of the 1996 film, which was the first in the franchise. However, speaking about roping in Anirudh Ravichander for the second film, filmmaker S Shankar mentioned that while Rahman was busy with other projects, he decided to opt for a different composer. “When we started work on Indian 2, AR Rahman was already working on the BGM of 2.0 and I needed the songs soon. I didn’t want to overburden him with Indian 2 and I also liked Anirudh’s music. His music was really popular and I thought why not sign him on,” he told during the press conference of Indian 2.

Also starring an extensive ensemble cast like Kajal Aggarwal, S.J. Suryah, Bobby Simha, Vivek, among others, the film revolves around Chithra Varadarajan who exposes corrupt politicians through social media. However, when things get out of hand, the world awaits the return of vigilante Senapathy to bring back the order. Indian 2 is expected to release in multiple languages on July 12 whereas it will release in Hindi as Hindustani 2. At the press conference, the makers also announced that Indian 3 too is in the making.
