A day ago, on May 22, the South film industry woke up to the news of veteran actor Sarath Babu passing away. The star, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry like Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, among others, was admitted in a private hospital in Hyderabad. Followed by the news of his demise, many of the celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to the star and along with that, our honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi too shared a post dedicating it to the late actor.
Taking to Twitter, our Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of Sarath Babu and also extended his condolences to the late actor. “Shri Sarath Babu Ji was versatile and creative. He will be remembered for several popular works in several languages during his long film career. Pained by his passing away. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.” Ever since last night, messages from fans and industry colleagues have been pouring in on social media and many stars were expected to have visited his residence to pay their last respects to the star. His funeral is reportedly being held on May 23 in Chennai.

For the unversed, Sarath Babu has been struggling with his health ever since March this year. A couple of months ago, the actor was first admitted in Chennai due to certain ailments, followed by which, he once started a treatment for his multi-organ damage in May in Hyderabad. Earlier this month, rumours of his demise started circulating on social media but it turned to be a hoax as the actor’s family denied the same.
Sarath Babu is known for his work predominantly in Tamil and Telugu cinema but the actor has also worked in Kannada and Malayalam films. His contribution to the South film industry spans for about four decades after he made his debut in 1973.
