Hindu Sewa Parishad files FIR against Nayanthara and Annapoorani for disrespecting Lord Ram : Bollywood News

Nayanthara, the leading lady of the Tamil film Annapoorani, along with the film's director, producers, and Netflix India's content head Monika Shergill, are facing legal repercussions following accusations of disrespecting Lord Ram and promoting "Love Jihad." The controversy surrounding the film has escalated after a right-wing outfit in Madhya Pradesh filed a case against the aforementioned individuals.

Hindu Sewa Parishad files FIR against Nayanthara and Annapoorani for disrespecting Lord Ram

The First Information Report (FIR), filed by the Hindu Sewa Parishad in Jabalpur, alleges that the film "hurt religious sentiments of Hindus, disrespected Lord Ram and promoted 'Love Jihad.'" The FIR names seven accused, including Nayanthara, director Nilesh Krishnaa, producers Jatin Sethi and R Ravindran, and Netflix India's content head Monika Shergill.

Annapoorani, which was released in theatres on December 1, began streaming on Netflix on December 29. However, following a wave of backlash and multiple police complaints, the film has been removed from the OTT platform. The Jabalpur case, filed by the outfit's founder and president Atul Jeswani, cites sections of the Indian Penal Code pertaining to promoting enmity among groups on the grounds of religion and common intent.

The controversy stems from specific scenes in the film, which some viewers have interpreted as derogatory towards Lord Ram and promoting the controversial concept of "Love Jihad,"

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that a Mumbai-based resident has also filed a complaint against the movie at the LT Marg police station in the city.

Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food, which was released on Netflix earlier this week, is directed by Nilesh Krishnaa and also features Sathyaraj, Karthik Kumar, KS Ravikumar, Redin Kingsley, among others in key roles.
