2025 marked a defining chapter in Naga Chaitanya’s career, delivering both commercial highs and creative validation. Building on the blockbuster success of Thandel and his hit streaming debut Dhootha, the actor is now setting his sights higher with an ambitious slate that includes the mystical thriller VrushaKarma and a closely guarded 25th feature film.
“2025 has been a significant year for me,” Chaitanya said exclusively, reflecting on Thandel, which emerged as his biggest theatrical success to date, grossing over Rs. 100 crores worldwide and recording the strongest opening of his career with a Rs. 21 crores global debut.
The film’s momentum extended to streaming as well, with Netflix acquiring Thandel, co-starring Sai Pallavi, in Chaitanya’s highest-ever OTT deal, pegged at Rs. 40 crores. Before this, the actor also made a strong digital debut with the acclaimed thriller Dhootha, expanding his reach as a performer.
Looking ahead, Chaitanya is preparing to carry that momentum into 2026, beginning with VrushaKarma, which presents him in a never-seen-before rugged avatar.
“Thandel in theatres and Dhootha on streaming marked a meaningful shift in my career. With VrushaKarma, I’m stepping into a bold new genre with large canvas, while also taking on a very original and physically demanding role. Lots of exciting developments have been underway for my 25th film as well. Now, as I walk into a new year, I’m committed to cherishing moments with my family and choosing solid, impactful stories as an actor. Lots to watch out for!” he added.
While VrushaKarma teased what’s in store, anticipation continues to build around Chaitanya’s 25th feature, with its title, genre and collaborators being kept under wraps. There is also growing curiosity around a potential second season of Dhootha, which remains one of his most talked-about projects on streaming.
