The launch of the song ‘Big Bull’ from the film Double iSmart was held today in Mumbai and was attended by actors Sanjay Dutt, Ram Pothineni, Kavya Thapar and Ali, producer Charmme Kaur, director Puri Jagannadh and CEO of Puri Connects Vish Reddy. The team of the film came on stage and gave headline-worthy quotes.
Double iSmart’s ‘Big Bull’ song launch: Sanjay Dutt talks about playing a villain: “Bahut kuch karne ko milta hai. Maarne ko milta hai, maar khaane ko milta hai. Rape kat gaya hai”When asked about the challenge of getting Sanjay Dutt on board, Puri Jagannadh said, “The most difficult thing was getting his dates.” This led to Charmme, Kavya and Ram joking that Sanjay Dutt has signed 7 films. Puri continued, “He said he had no dates, and we worried. But finally, we got his dates. I am a big fan of Sanju baba. He has 4 decades of experience and is a versatile performer. Thank you sir for doing this role.”
Ram Pothineni added, “Charmme ma’am being Charmme ma’am, she flew to Dubai and got his dates. I don’t know how she managed to do so. I just saw the film recently and can’t imagine anyone else but him in this role.” He looked at Sanju Baba and said, “You are a silent saint and a sweetheart. Thank you for pampering us.”
Double iSmart is a sequel to iSmart Shankar (2019), which became a big hit in Hindi on digital. Ram revealed, “It all started on YouTube. We didn’t realize that a lot of North Indian people were watching South films. A lot of people used to ask us to release the films simultaneously as they had to wait for a year (to catch the dubbed version). Now that this Pan-India trend has caught on, we are able to release on the same day as well.”

He also revealed, “Also, Double iSmart is mostly shot in Mumbai. I was lucky to have witnessed the iSmart Shankar madness here as well. People used to scream ‘Shankar’ while I’d be on my way to shoot.”
Ram Pothineni then raised laughs as he stated, “My character is all about mental mass madness. One small disclaimer – I do not endorse him. In case you get inspired and follow him, I am pretty sure that within half an hour, you’ll be in jail! He’s only meant to be enjoyed on the big screen!”
During the Q-and-A round with the media, Sanjay Dutt was asked if he’d like to work on a love story again. He replied, “Yes, I’d like to do romance if I get the right film. But our generation used to work for the mass audience. Hum log massy hero hai. Apun Saajan (1991) kar liya tha ek time. It was a great film with lovely songs. So yeah, I’d love to do a film like that.”
On working in his third South film as a villain, Sanjay Dutt said, “It’s a challenge for me also to be in South film. Also, negative is a good space to be in. Bahut kuch karne ko milta hai. Maarne ko milta hai, maar khaane ko milta hai. Rape kat gaya hai.” He then said on a serious note, “At least, there’s something to do for an actor after doing so many films.”
Double iSmart releases in 5 languages in cinemas on August 15.
