Shruti Haasan, Nagarjuna and music composer Anirudh Ravichander attended an event for their film Coolie organized by Spotify at a five-star hotel in Mumbai. Nagarjuna got a roaring response from the fans as soon as he came on stage and he added to the entertainment quotient with his quotes.
When asked about playing the role of a villain for the first time, Nagarjuna remarked, “I was playing the ‘goodie’ all the time. It was getting a little boring. So, I thought that let me play the baddie!”
He also quipped that he didn’t get convinced easily for the part, “I made Lokesh Kanagaraj work for it! I had to make sure that I was doing the right thing playing bad. It took 7-8 meetings before he convinced me.”

Shruti Haasan, on the other hand, spoke about her father Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, “My daddy is No. 1 for me. So, I unconditionally love appa. But I am a Rajini sir fan now. That’s the balance I have achieved!”
She continued, “His (Rajinikanth’s) aura is such. The minute you encounter him, you are like ‘Woah…okay’! He’s like a powerhouse. I think when I had a close-up shot with him and I was seeing his face up close, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s Rajini sir’!”
The host then asked Nagarjuna if his role in Coolie would be one that he’d like to tell his grandkids about. Nagarjuna said, “I definitely don’t want to tell my grandchildren about this role; it’s too bad (laughs)! But working with Rajini sir was fantastic. It's something I’ll take back home. That man’s charisma, aura and what he creates on sets are outstanding. It was very nice that he helped me with Tamil dialogues. It was very nice of him. He told me, ‘Nag, it’ll be nice if you say the dialogue like this’!”

He ended his answer by saying, “Though I played the most negative role, the experience was the most positive (smiles).”
Coolie releases in cinemas on August 14.
