Starting off as a quintessential Kannada entertainer, fantasy drama Kantara tasted massive success as the film found audiences across the country and globe. Followed by its huge box office collection and audience love, the makers announced the second instalment of this Rishab Shetty starrer, Kantara 2. While fans of the actor-filmmaker are eagerly awaiting an announcement on this film, we hear that Rishab has bagged another major film and it is with Bollywood actor turned filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker.

According to recent reports, the Lagaan director has expressed keen interest in having Rishab Shetty on board for his next project, which is expected to be mounted on a massive scale. Moreover, we hear that it will be a Pan India film which will release in multiple languages. As per a source’s statement to Pinkvilla, it said, “Ashutosh has been working on a subject that warrants a rooted treatment and he felt that Rishab is the best fit for his subject. He met the actor multiple times over the last few months and both jammed very well with regards to their take on cinema. Being a writer himself, Rishab collaborated very well with Ashutosh on the script and the two are now all set to team up for the first time,”

The source also revealed that the film will be kicking off once Rishab wraps the second instalment of Kantara. “The script is locked and Ashutosh will take the film in the pre-production stage in the coming two months. The idea is to take this yet untitled project on floors by mid-2024, once Rishab finishes his work on the second installment of Kantara. The exact timelines of the shoot will depend on the schedule of Kantara 2 with regards to shooting as also the post-production,” added the source.
