Hugh Jackman is getting ready to return to the X-Men universe alongside Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. He's reprising his iconic role as Wolverine, which he first played back in 2000. In a recent conversation at the Disney+ & Hulu release event, Tom Hiddleston, the actor behind the mischievous Loki, dropped hints suggesting that the God of Trickery might not be quite done with his adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) just yet.

While Loki's Disney+ series seemed to wrap up with a tidy conclusion after two seasons, seeing the character embrace his destiny as the guardian of the multiverse and claim his rightful place on the throne, Hiddleston's musings have sparked excitement among fans. When asked about whom he'd like Loki to face off against, Hiddleston's response ignited speculation and curiosity as he named Wolverine. “Oh, my goodness. Gosh, I don't know. I mean, now there are all these new…the X-Men are back in it, right? I mean, Wolverine's in it,” Hiddleston told Variety, delving into the potential for future crossovers with characters like Wolverine, portrayed by Jackman.

Hiddleston's reference to Wolverine's presence in the original Avengers comics adds another layer of intrigue to his statement. With the imminent arrival of Deadpool & Wolverine in 2024, which marks Jackman's long-awaited MCU debut alongside Ryan Reynolds, the possibilities for unexpected cameos or confrontations are tantalizing. Hiddleston said, “I think Wolverine was in the original Avengers as far as I remember so there’s some comic book history there so I have to dig my all comic books out and see what the storylines are.”

Hugh Jackman has been synonymous with the role of Wolverine since his inception into the X-Men franchise in 2000. The prospect of seeing him face off against Loki, a character known for his cunning and unpredictability, is enough to set fans' imaginations alight.

Additionally, Hiddleston gave a nod to his friend Charlie Cox and Cox's upcoming revival of Daredevil further stirs anticipation. Cox's return to the MCU, alongside Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin and other beloved characters from the Netflix series, promises a thrilling expansion of the interconnected Marvel universe. He said, “My friend Charlie Cox plays the Daredevil and he’s got his show coming out. I love Charlie to bits, so we did a play together on Broadway years ago, it will be fun.”

Deadpool & Wolverine, the third installment in the franchise, promises to be a thrilling addition to the Deadpool franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe at large. Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna are returning in addition to Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, Stefan Kapicic and Rob Delaney.

Jennifer Garner is also reprising her role of Elektra after 20 years. She first played the role in 20th Century Fox’s 2003 feature film Daredevil which starred Ben Affleck. However, she was also headlining the spin-off.

Deadpool & Wolverine is being produced by Marvel’s Kevin Feige, director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds. The script is by Reynolds, Levy, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Zeb Wells. The film will be released on July 26, 2024, in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
