Tom Hanks reflects on feeling a deep connection with the story of his upcoming film Here: “I was always forced through this prism of…”

“Time sure does fly, doesn't it?” This line from the trailer of Here sets the tone for a journey across generations, featuring Tom Hanks and an all-star cast. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and based on a screenplay by Academy Award-winning writer Eric Roth, the film adapts Richard McGuire's graphic novel and is set to release in India on November 8. The story explores love, laughter, and significant moments within a single location over time.

Here presents a timeless narrative that spans thousands of years, capturing the lives, loves, and lasting memories of those who have called a single patch of land home. The trailer reveals a non-linear storytelling approach, gracefully leaping through time to connect generations—from prehistoric days to the present-day story of Richard (Tom Hanks) and Margaret (Robin Wright).

Director Robert Zemeckis sheds light on the film’s emotional core and shared, “Richard and Margaret are brought together because they fall in love,” he further adds, “They go through a lot of the trials and tribulations that life throws at you, but they really do love each other. It’s that love that keeps them together through all the life issues they have to deal with.”

Tom Hanks, speaking about his character’s journey, explores the generational divides illustrated in the film and said, “Richard grows up in a house where the threat of money, the threat of not having money, is the lifeblood of what goes on,” elaborates Hanks. “His parents grew up in a very volatile, dangerous kind of daily existence. That’s not the case for the generation that was born after World War II." Hanks also reflects on the deep connection he feels with the story, saying, "I was always forced through this prism of being worried about money, terrorized about money," he continues, "That’s the difference between a happy-go-lucky, joy-filled life and one of constant burden.”
