Thor: Love and Thunder filmmaker Taika Waititi drops a poster of his film Next Goal Wins

Taika Waititi, who is known for Thor: Ragnarok and the recent Thor: Love and Thunder will be exploring a completely new genre with his next. His next is a sports drama titled Next Goal Wins, which is said to be based on the 2014 British documentary by the same name and it revolves around football. Taking to his Instagram, Taika dropped a glimpse of the film by unveiling a tantalizing poster of the same which has left the fans buzzing with excitement.

Taika Waititi promises that the film will be a departure from his usual style, as he ventures into unfamiliar territory with a sports-themed movie based on a true story. In his Instagram post, the acclaimed director revealed his next to be a film based on a sport he knows ‘nothing about’. But that's not all. Waititi calls Next Goal Wins his ‘least cynical film’ adding that the film will be a refreshing departure from the dark themes and biting social commentary that has become his trademark.

Captioning the post, he said, “Next Goal Wins. Based on a true story. A sports film I made about a sport I know nothing about. My least cynical film in which nothing bad happens to anyone. The documentary titled Next Goal Wins, directed by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison, revolved around the rise of an underdog football team of American Samoa and their journey from being called as one of the weakest football teams in the world, to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. As for the film, it is slated to release on November 17.
