Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video have officially confirmed the premiere date for Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power while also announcing an early renewal for Season 4 of the fantasy drama.

The announcement was made during Amazon’s annual Upfront presentation, where the streaming giant revealed that the third season of the globally successful series will premiere on November 11, 2026. The makers also confirmed that the ambitious Middle-earth saga will continue with a fourth season, reinforcing the franchise’s importance within Prime Video’s global content slate.
Sharing his excitement about the show’s continued success, Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “From the very beginning, this series has embodied the scale, ambition, and cinematic storytelling that define Prime Video’s biggest global series. The extraordinary response from millions of fans around the world has made it clear that this journey through Middle-earth continues to resonate, and that momentum has only grown heading into Season Three. We’re thrilled to announce an early Season Four renewal, and continue our creative partnership with J.D. Payne, Patrick McKay, and the entire exceptional cast and crew, who help us bring Tolkien’s legendary Second Age to life.”
According to the studio, the series has attracted million viewers globally and remains one of Prime Video’s strongest contributors to new Prime membership subscriptions. Season One and Season Two have reportedly been one of the most loved series on the platform.
Set thousands of years before the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power explores the legendary Second Age of Middle-earth. The story chronicles the rise and fall of kingdoms, the forging of great powers and the re-emergence of evil led by Sauron. The upcoming third season will reportedly jump forward several years after the events of Season Two and focus on the height of the war between the Elves and Sauron. The Dark Lord’s quest to forge the One Ring is expected to become a central storyline as he attempts to dominate Middle-earth.
Season Three is produced by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, along with executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell and Charlotte Brandstrom. The first two seasons of the fantasy series are currently streaming on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories.
