Back in 2023 at the Netflix Tudum event in Brazil, the cast announcement for Squid Game 2 sent waves of anticipation through fans. Notably, the return of Lee Jung Jae and Lee Byung Hun as Gi Hun and the Front Man sent the fans into a frenzy, with the intriguing hint of Gong Yoo reprising his role as "the man in the suit with ddakji." Wi Ha Jun's confirmed return further fuelled the excitement. However, the unveiling didn't stop there. The makers also introduced a stellar line-up for the second season, including Yim Siwan, Park Gyu Young, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, and Yang Dong Guen. Fast forward to February 1, 2024, Netflix heightened the fervour by dropping a tantalizing first look at Squid Game 2, cementing its place in the 2024 release slate and leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter of this globally acclaimed Korean series.

The first look photos of season 2 unveil the eagerly anticipated reunion between Lee Jung Jae's Gi Hun and Gong Yoo's recruiter, hinting at a continuation of their complex dynamic. Lee Byung Hun, embodying the enigmatic Front Man, once again adds to the mystery, while Park Gyu Young is introduced as a new character shrouded. The first look video marks Gi Hun's reappearance with striking red hair, a call back to the conclusion to the previous season. The highly-anticipated second season will follow Gi-hun as he abandons his plans to go to the US and starts a chase with a motive.

Squid Game tells the story of a group of desperate contestants who risk their lives to become the final winner in a mysterious extreme survival game with a 45.6 billion won cash prize. After its premiere in 2021, the series quickly became a global phenomenon and one of Netflix’s most popular series ever.

Director Hwang Dong Huk, who made history at the 74th Primetime Emmys becoming the first Asian to win Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, once again helms the series as director, writer, and producer.
