Shazam! Fury Of The Gods director David F. Sandberg reveals Billy’s deleted scene explains why he couldn’t steal Kalypso’s powers

David F. Sandberg has taken to Twitter to share some details about the behind-the-scenes animations and deleted scenes.

Warner Bros. recently released Shazam! Fury Of The Gods. Zachary Levi returned in the lead role along with the new formidable foes Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu. The sequel, continues the story of a teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word “SHAZAM!,” is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam. While there was anticipation for the movie, in the US itself, the movie opened to $30 million at the box office. The underwhelming performance was acknowledged by the team of the movie. However, the director David F. Sandberg has taken to Twitter to share some details about the behind-the-scenes animations and deleted scenes.

Taking to Twitter to reply to a fan, Sandberg answered why Billy wanted to sacrifice himself during the climax instead of using the wizard’s staff to steal Kalypso’s powers. The director said that the deleted scene did infact reveal that Billy wanted to use the power but was unable to use the staff as he did not know how to access the power of the staff. “In a deleted scene Shazam tried to use the staff on Kalypso to take her powers but he simply didn't know how to operate it. He points it at her and says "take her power" but the staff does nothing,” the director wrote.

In a separate thread, Sandberg also shared the animations from the film, the big set pieces, action sequences, Shazam saving a car during the bridge scene.

The film stars returning cast members Zachary Levi as Shazam; Asher Angel as Billy Batson; Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman; Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy; Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene; Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla; D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro; Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield / Super Hero Mary; Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley; Ian Chen as Eugene Choi; Jovan Armand as Pedro Pena; Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez; Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez; with Djimon Hounsou as Wizard.

Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler with Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren. The film is directed by David F. Sandberg and produced by Peter Safran. It is written by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan, based on characters from DC; Shazam! was created by Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. The film was released in India on March 17.
