Shakira cancels Peru show after being hospitalized for abdominal issue during World Tour

Global sensation Shakira cancelled one of her shows in Peru on Sunday after being rushed to the hospital due to an “abdominal issue.” She was hospitalized during her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.

Shakira took to her official Instagram to share a statement about the cancelled concert and updated her fans on her health. “I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalised,” the statement read.

“The doctors who are currently treating me have informed me that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening. I am very sad not to be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru. I hope to be released and feel better tomorrow so I can perform,” Shakira added.

Shakira mentioned that her “team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you,” addressing the fans who were planning to attend her show.

“Thank you all for your understanding, I love you all,” she concluded her statement. While Shakira apologized to her fans, she did not provide any further details about the “abdominal issue.”

The concerning news about Shakira's health comes just days after she kicked off her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour in Rio de Janeiro on February 11.

Shakira made headlines recently after winning the Best Latin Pop Album award for Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards on February 2. The win marked her first album in seven years.

In her award acceptance speech, Shakira dedicated the Grammy to her “immigrant brothers and sisters in this country.” She said, “You are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you. And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true 'sheroes.' So, this is for you too!”
