Seol In Ah, Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook and Shin Eun Soo to star in new fantasy drama Sparkling Watermelon

South Korean actors Seol In Ah, Ryeoun, Choi Hyun Wook and Shin Eun Soo are all confirmed to star in the new fantasy, coming-of-age drama Sparkling Watermelon (literal title).

According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, Sparkling Watermelon is a coming-of-age drama in which a coda (child of deaf adult) model student boy befriends the younger version of his father and falls in love with a mysterious girl after he accidentally time travels through a suspicious musical instrument store.

Seol In Ah will transform into Seowon Arts High School’s cello goddess Se Kyung, who is known as a muse to many due to her pure and elegant beauty and aura. Ryeoun will play Eun Gyeol who is the only person who can hear in his deaf family. She is the perfect model student by day and a band guitarist by night.

Choi Hyun Wook will star as the passionate Lee Chan who goes to great lengths to win the heart of a “goddess” from a nearby arts high school. Meanwhile, Shin Eun Soo will play the haughty “ice princess” Chung Ah who has been deaf since birth.

Sparkling Watermelon will be helmed by director Son Jung Hyun who previously worked on Should We Kiss First? and Mental Coach Jegal. The script comes from Jin Soo Wan whose credits include Kill Me Heal Me and The Moon Embracing the Sun.

The production team shared, “We hope that Sparkling Watermelon will become a drama through which the past, current, and future youths can all relate to and communicate with. Please anticipate the performance of the actors who will make the characters shine even brighter.”

Sparkling Watermelon from tvN is reportedly slated to premiere in the second half of this year.
