Actor Robert Downey Jr. has taken to social media to share his response to Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, currently running in theatres in English and Hindi. Downey Jr. attended a screening of the film with Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D'Esposito and credited director Jon Favreau for delivering a "wild ride."
Downey Jr. and Favreau share a long professional association, with Favreau having directed Downey Jr. in Iron Man (2008) and Iron Man 2 (2010). Favreau also created the original Disney+ series The Mandalorian, on which Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is based. D'Esposito, who co-produced Iron Man alongside Favreau, has served as Executive Vice-President of Marvel Studios since 2009.
Directed and co-written by Jon Favreau, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu follows Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu as they take on their most challenging mission yet. The film marks the first theatrical release in the Star Wars franchise since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 and was filmed for IMAX.
The film stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, with Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward and Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt. Music is composed by Ludwig Göransson.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu is written by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor, and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Ian Bryce, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni under Lucasfilm Ltd. and Fairview Entertainment. The film is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and is currently in theatres in English and Hindi.
