Reese Witherspoon and Husband Jim Toth have announced divorce after 12 years of marriage. The duo also share a son named Tennessee. “We have some personal news to share,” the Oscar-winning actress and producer shared in a joint statement on social media.

“It is with a great deal of care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce. We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for everything we have created together. Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.”

They added, “These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone’s respect for our family’s privacy at this time.” Additionally, a source told People, “Reese and Jim’s decision to get a divorce was really just an amicable and thoughtful choice on both parts. They made the decision together and there is nothing dramatic about it. It is all love and they are committed to looking out for their son and whole family together.”

Witherspoon and Toth tied the knot at Witherspoon's former home in Ojai, California, on March 26, 2011. She also shared a throwback shot from the day on Instagram in 2021, when the couple celebrated their 10th anniversary. Witherspoon last shared a photo of the two on January 1, featuring her, Toth and their son Tennessee.

“Welcoming 2023,” she wrote. “Let the sun shine in.” This was the second marriage for Witherspoon, who was previously married to Ryan Phillippe from 1997-2007. She has two other children with him, namely Ava and Deacon.
