South Korean actors Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee joined forces in the enthralling period monster K-drama Gyeongseong Creature. Under the direction of ace director Chung Dong Hoon, the first part premiered on December 22, followed by the second part on January 5, 2024. A Netflix rarity, the show secured a double-season order from the outset. On January 8, the eagerly awaited confirmation of a second season arrived, accompanied by post-credits scenes from the first installment and an enticing glimpse of Season 2 through released photos, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the continuation of this captivating tale.

In the post-credit scene, a character named Ho Jae, with a mysterious scar, is seen who has an uncanny resemblance to Jang Tae Sang. This ignited an array of questions regarding the modern set-up of the scene, the character’s resemblance to Tae Sang and his scar. This also set up the time travel element, transitioning the setting to Seoul in 2024.

Along with the post-credit scene, the makers unveiled the first-look photos of Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee in modern era of Seoul. She played the role of Yoon Chae Ok while it is unclear what character she plays in the current timeline. According to a recent update from Netflix, the “characters' narratives will evolve over 78 years.”

In a statement, director Chung Dong-yoon said, “Season 2 presents a story with a completely different charm. The change in space and period will provide a clear distinction, offering an expanded universe feel.”

The season 1 was set in the spring of 1945, when Ongseong Hospital in Gyeongseong (now known as Seoul in South Korea) unveils its dark secrets. Entrepreneur Jang Tae Sang and the sleuth Yoon Chae Ok emerge as reluctant allies, navigating the treacherous waters of survival. Against the backdrop of a city, their destinies intertwine as they confront a creature spawned from the depths of human avarice. As shadows of wartime desperation loom large, courage collides with the eerie manifestations of greed, creating an atmospheric narrative that transcends time and leaves audiences on the edge of anticipation. Jang Tae Sang and Yoon Chae Ok, witnessing the Japanese military's atrocities, unite to rescue captives. Amidst the horrors, they encounter a mysterious creature, evoking a shared fear. Their quest for freedom intertwines with Wi Ha Joon's Kwon Joon Taek, a wealthy heir and activist ensnared after a valiant but futile effort to liberate Korea.
