My ID Is Gangnam Beauty’s Thai remake Beauty Newbie starring Win Metawin and Baifern eyeing early 2024 release

The 14-episode series will be helmed by Aticha Tanthanawigrai who previously worked on F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers.

Back in November 2022, it was reported that the popular South Korean drama My ID Is Gangnam Beauty is getting a remake in Thailand with a new title, Beauty Newbie. The series originally stars Im Soo Hyang and actor-singer Cha Eun Woo. Adapted from the webtoon, “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty” by Maenggi Ki, the digital comic has been viewed 1.4 billion times. The upcoming Thai remake will star actor Win Metawin as Guy Kairn Sayapisit and actress Baifern will play the role of Liu Prima Paspimol. Apart from the lead actors, Fah Yongwaree has been roped in to play Fay and Great-Sapol will star as Sense.

According to Variety, the series will go on floors this summer and the makers are eyeing the premiere in early 2024 on the GMMTV network. The 14-episode series will be helmed by Aticha Tanthanawigrai who previously worked on F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers, The Shipper, and Girl From Nowhere. GMMTV has joined hands with Wattapad for this adaptation.

The logline reads, “Liu, a young woman who feels the need to get plastic surgery, and Guy, who is seen as having a perfect face. The show asks whether, in a world that judges and criticizes based on appearance, romance can blossom between two people who see themselves so differently?”

Based on a hit Korean webtoon, My ID Is Gangnam Beauty is about a young woman named Kang Mi Rae who has been bullied for her looks. She gets plastic surgery hoping for a better kind of life but faces new challenges in college. She meets Do Kyung Suk, a student from her middle school days, in college as the story unfolds for her with a new set of troubles and love. The series also starred Jo Woo Ri and Kwak Dong Yeon.

Meanwhile, Win Metawin rose to fame with Boys’ Love series 2gether and Still 2gether with actor Bright Vachirawit. He was most recently seen in F4 Thailand: Boys Over Flowers which was the remake of the Korean drama Boys Over Flowers and Devil Sister.

On the other hand, Baifern became popular with the 2010 hit movie Crazy Little Thing Called Love. She has starred in several projects including Love Summer, Still 2, and AI Love You.
