Following much anticipation, Killers of the Flower Moon had its world premiere at the 76th Cannes Film Festival. Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons walked the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival alongside Martin Scorsese before the grand premiere. After the screening, the movie received a 9-minute standing ovation, which left the cast overwhelmed. Lily Gladstone, who plays an Osage woman, earned rave reviews as she fought back tears at the screening for all the cheers that came her way.
According to Variety, Scorsese said, “Thank you to the Osages. Everyone connected with the picture. My old pals Bob and Leo, and Jesse and Lily. We shot this a couple of years ago in Oklahoma. It’s taken its time to come around but Apple did so great by us. There was lots of grass. I’m a New Yorker. I was very surprised. This was an amazing experience. We lived in that world.”

At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder.
Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), Killers of the Flower Moon is an epic Western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro and Jesse Plemons, Killers of the Flower Moon is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.
Killers of the Flower Moon will premiere exclusively in theatres beginning Friday, October 6 before streaming globally on Apple TV+.
