Lilo & Stitch: Countdown begins with new video as film gears up for May 23 release

Mark your calendars - Lilo & Stitch is almost here! With just a month left until its theatrical release on May 23, 2025, Disney’s live-action adaptation of the fan-favourite animated classic is all set to bring a mix of heartwarming emotions and hilarious chaos to the big screen. The cast includes Sydney Elizebeth Agudong as Lilo, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, Courtney B. Vance, and the debut of young talent Maia Kealoha.

Chris Sanders, who originally voiced Stitch in the 2002 animated film, reprises his role, ensuring a touch of nostalgic charm for longtime fans. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, the film reimagines the story of a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo and her unexpected bond with Stitch, a mischievous blue alien fugitive who crash-lands on Earth. As the duo navigates life, love, and high-speed chases (including one in a pink toy jeep), their journey becomes a celebration of friendship, found family, and the enduring strength of siblinghood.

Set against the vibrant backdrop of Hawaii, the film explores Lilo’s attempts to mend her fractured family with the help of her strange new companion—who might just be the family she didn’t know she needed. Packed with action, heart, and Stitch-induced mayhem, the story offers both laughs and moments of surprising emotional depth.

The screenplay has been penned by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes. The film is produced by Jonathan Eirich, p.g.a., and Dan Lin, while Tom Peitzman, Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Thomas Schumacher serve as executive producers. Lilo & Stitch will be released exclusively in cinemas across India in both English and Hindi on May 23. With its blend of heartfelt storytelling and outrageous fun, the film invites viewers of all ages to say “Aloha” to an unforgettable cinematic adventure.
