9 Korean dramas are arriving in May 2023 that you need to add to your watch list.

While the month of April 2023 saw a comeback of popular favorites like Dr. Romantic season 3, the month of May is no different. Along with K-drama arrivals, we will also get to witness the comebacks of our favorite actors like Kim Woo Bin and Lee Dong Wook. The month of May holds a lot of promise when it comes to choosing a new story to set your hearts on. Let’s take a look at some of the upcoming K-dramas releasing in May 2023.

1. ALL THAT WE LOVED
This K-drama marks the comeback of EXO’s Sehun to the small screen after Dokgo Rising. The youngest one of EXO will be playing the lead role of a fearless high school student named Go Yoo who is also a maestro at basketball. Jo Joon Young appears as his best friend with Go Joon Hee. Joon Hee receives a kidney transplant from Go Yoo and thus begins a funny tale where the friends start sharing experiences and memories. Starring in parallel lead is Jang Yeo Bin in the role of a transfer student named Han So Yeon. The drama will premiere on May 5.

2. TALE OF THE NINE-TAILED 1938
Get ready to be transported in the yesteryears with Lee Dong Wook once again. The gumiho whom we all fell in love with in The Tale of the Nine-Tailed is returning to our screen but this time with a new story, set in the older times. We will also see Ki Bum reprise his role as Lee Rang and Ryoo Kyoung Soo as Cho Moo Yeong. The drama is set to air from May 6.

3. BLACK KNIGHT
We saw Kim Woo Bin as a small townie in Our Blues. Now we get to see him in a dystopian setting as a delivery driver named Knight 5-8. The story follows those in a futuristic South Korea where only a handful dare to leave indoors after toxic pollution envelops the country. Black Knight is adapted from a webtoon named Delivery Knight. The drama will air on Netflix for six episodes on May 12.

4. OH! YOUNG SIM
Super Junior’s Lee Dong Hae stars in this funny romcom drama opposite Song Ha Yoon. Ha Yoon’s character Young Shim is a TV show producer and comes up with an idea for a dating reality TV show. She strikes up a deal with a start-up entrepreneur Mark (played by Dong Hae) who is none other than her childhood friend. The drama will air May 15 onwards.

5.ONE DAY OFF
With a string of rom-com and fantasy dramas, May 2023 also has something for those who like healing slice of life dramas. Lee Na Young, whom we last saw in Romance Is a Bonus Book, is returning to the small screen with One Day Off. She plays the role of a Korean literature teacher who goes on trips on Saturdays to escape the mundane. The people she meets and the experiences she has form the story of Day Off. The drama will begin airing from May 24.

6.BENEFICIAL FRAUD
Kim Dong Wook stars as Han Moo Young, a lawyer who completely immerses himself in his client’s problems. Starring opposite Dong Wook is Chun Woo Hee as Lee Ro Woon, a charming scam artist. As the two cross paths, the situation intensifies and that is the crux of the story. Beneficial Fraud is set to air from May 29 onwards.

7. MY PERFECT STRANGER
The wait for fans of Kim Dong Wook to see him on screen is cut short. This month the actor will appear in two dramas, one is Delightful Deceitful and the other is My Perfect Stranger which has in fact already begun airing. The drama tells the story of Yoon Hae Joon (played by Dong Wook) a budding journalist and Baek Yoon Young (played by Jin Ki Joo) who is a writer working at a publishing house. The two are transported to 1987 when they get involved in the same case. The drama premiered on May 1.

8. HAPPINESS BATTLE
If you’re looking for a suspense drama, then you might have a suggestion right here! Happiness Battle tells the story of five mothers as they gear up to take each other down on social media. This jarring battle only leads to the revelation of multiple secrets and life-changing altercations. The drama is adapted from a novel by Joo Young Ha. Lee El, Jin Seo Yun, Cha Ye Ryun, Park Hyo Joo and Woo Jeong Won star in the lead. The drama is set to premiere on May 31.

9. R.A.C.E
Lee Yeon Hee, Hong Jong Hyun, TVXQ’s Yunho, and Moon So Ri star in the fast paced office politics drama Race. Yeon Hee plays the role of Park Young Ju, who joins a large firm’s PR department. She lacks a few academic credits but her grit and determination makes up for it. The drama is set to air on Disney+ from May 12.
