Starring Lee Da-hee in the lead role, the series explores love, heartbreak, and self-discovery through the lens of an insurance company that introduces a groundbreaking divorce insurance policy.
Lee Da-hee, known for her charismatic performances in popular K-dramas like The Beauty Inside and I Can Hear Your Voice, plays Jeon Na-rae, a financial mathematician who joins a product development team at a life insurance company. Together, they embark on an ambitious project to create a divorce insurance product designed to safeguard people’s futures. Na-rae, headstrong and practical, views the world through an investment lens, but her perspective on love and relationships shifts as the series progresses.
Sharing insights about her character, Lee Da-hee highlighted a core trait that drew her to Jeon Na-rae. “I think what defines Na-rae is her confidence,” she said. “I admired how she stands by her choices without regret and carries herself with self-assurance. I believe these qualities make her even more lovable.” Beyond her character’s arc, Da-hee delved into the series’ broader themes of marriage and divorce, challenging conventional ideas about relationships. “Don’t go all-in on your marriage,” she firmly stated. “I don’t think it’s right to give up everything because there are other very important parts of your life other than marriage.”
The Divorce Insurance takes a refreshingly modern approach to love and separation, aiming to spark a more open and understanding discourse on divorce. Lee Da-hee hopes viewers will reconsider societal perceptions of marriage and self-worth. “I hope viewers can see divorce from a broader perspective rather than simply viewing it as something negative. I’d also love for them to reflect on what it means to love themselves and live authentically.”
The series, directed by Lee Won-seok and produced by KT Studio Genie, Mongjagso, and Studio Mondo, features a star-studded cast, including Lee Dong-wook, Lee Joo-been, and Lee Kwang-soo. With the first episode now available to stream, new episodes of The Divorce Insurance will premiere on Mondays and Tuesdays exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
