Keanu Reeves’ upcoming action-flick sequel John Wick: Chapter 4 received a rousing response at the SXSW Film Festival premiere, even before the film’s premiere! John Wick: Chapter 4 saw an amazing premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on Monday and the crowd went frenzy as soon as franchise star Reeves took the stage at the behest of director Chad Stahelski.

As Variety notes, that fervor never waned throughout the film’s epic two-hour-and-49-minute runtime, with booming ovations following the prodigious action sequences in Osaka, Berlin and Paris — and vocal gasps after several major twists. Reeves and Stahelski both seemed pleasantly shell-shocked by the raucous reception.

“You guys are amazing,” Reeves said onstage. “Thanks for that experience. You guys are fucking awesome.” Stahelski then added, “This is one of the best audiences of all time.” During the Q&A round following the premiere of over-the-top action story, the duo was asked about their favorite moment in the film.

While Reeves’ answer contained some serious spoilers – which elicited a chorus of “Awwwws” from the audience – Stahelski offered a spoiler-free answer saying, “It was the first day Keanu came on set. He had the suit back on and it was the first time we were back together in three years. So, it was pretty special.”

As the report notes, much of the Q&A involved audience members launching into extended tributes to the film’s star. One person asked Reeves if he ever ages. “Yeah man, I age,” he replied wearily. “I really — I age. It’s happening, man.” After Reeves said he kept Wick’s watch and wedding ring from the previous films, someone shouted, “I’ll marry you!” to which Reeves replied, “Yeah, be careful what you wish for.

Another person yelled, “Bring back ‘Constantine’,” in refence to Reeves’ 2005 DC adaptation. “I’m trying, man,” the actor replied. One of the questions asked was if Reeves was planning to appear in the spin off projects of John Wick” (The Continental and Ballerina). The director answered in uncertainty, “Uh, not sure yet,” followed by a tentative “No” from Reeves. “I have a cameo in ‘Ballerina,’ that’s true,” he added.

John Wick: Chapter 4 debuts in theaters on March 24.
