Joker 2: Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn croons a song from 1948 film Easter Parade in new set video; watch

A leaked video from the set of hotly anticipated sequel Joker: Folie à Deux offers sneak peek of the multi-hyphenate Lady Gaga singing the classic song, ‘We're a Couple of Swells’ from the 1948 film Easter Parade.

A Twitter user shared the video taken from outside the Arkham Asylum set for Joker 2. As Collider notes, the song is a duet performed in Easter Parade by stars Judy Garland and Fred Astaire. Referencing the context behind this song, it's evident that Gaga's Harley Quinn will be coming to the side of Arthur in the film.

Todd Phillips is attached as director and cowriter with Scott Silver on Joker: Folie a Deux. In English, the phrase “Folie à deux” translates to "shared psychosis," and refers to a psychiatric syndrome involving delusions being transmitted between two people. Along with Gaga and the return of Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, Zazie Beetz will be reprising her role of Sophie while Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey have all joined the cast.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "The details on Gaga's character are being kept under wraps. Joker is known for his on-off abusive relationship with Harley Quinn, his psychiatrist at the mental institution known as Arkham Asylum who falls in love with him and becomes his sidekick and partner in crime"

The sequel is said to be made as a musical. The original film Joker ended up winning two Oscars the year it was released, Best Actor of Phoenix's performance as the eponymous Clown Prince of Crime, and Best Original Score. In all, Joker received 11 Oscar nominations.

Warner Bros. has set October 4, 2024 as the release date for Joker: Folie à deux.
