Following much anticipation, the South Korean fantasy drama HeartBeat premiered on June 26. Starring multitalented actor and artist Ok Taecyeon, who previously starred in Let’s Fight Ghost, Vincenzo, and Blind, HeartBeat features a thrilling romance between a vampire who desires to experience heart-throbbing love and a cold-blooded woman who doesn’t have time for romance. The series also stars Won Ji An, Park Kang Hyun, and Yoon So Hui, who were in attendance.
At the press conference on Friday, June 23, 2023, Won Ji An praised K-pop group 2 PM member Taecyeon for being supportive. She said, “Even though he must be tired, I was able to film with him while receiving positive energy. I was able to comfortably discuss various ideas with him as well as the director and other staff members comfortably.”
Taecyeon added, “I think Won Ji An is an actor who can act really well and she’s so beautiful. Joo In Hae is a character who shows a lot of things, some of which could be problems. Seon U Hyeol is a character who doesn’t understand these things. Won Ji An expresses all these things so well and is an actor that makes you fall for Joo In Hae’s character. Filming has been so much fun. Once the drama comes out, I believe you’ll be able to see our characters be cute together.”
When asked if Taecyeon has pressure for the series to be a success, he said, “We’re all a part of creating the drama together. Everyone from the producers to the staff and the director and cast all want the series to do well. We all work hard in order to have good results. I don’t think it’s correct to say a drama is not good if the results are not good. I think we work hard in order to hear feedback that our drama is good. With streaming platforms, many series exist and can be watched long after they air on television channels. People can re-watch this series later and think of it as a good drama. Of course, it would be nice to receive good results but I think quality is more important than results.”
HeartBeat premiered on June 26, 2023, and is simultaneously airing on KBS 2TV and Prime Video.
