Hollywood actor Johnny Wactor was tragically shot and killed on Saturday morning in Los Angeles. The 37-year-old was best known for his role as Brando Corbin on the ABC soap opera General Hospital.
According to a report in Variety, his talent agent, David Shaul said Wactor's death stemmed from a suspected catalytic converter theft attempt. Three individuals were allegedly trying to steal the converter from Wactor's car around 3:00 am in downtown LA. The LAPD reported that a man, later identified as Wactor, was fatally shot during the confrontation.
Shaul spoke highly of Wactor in a statement, praising him for his dedication to acting, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. He described Wactor as a role model who always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be. “Johnny Wactor was a spectacular human being. Not just a talented actor who was committed to his craft but a real moral example to everyone who knew him. Standing for hard work, tenacity and a never give up attitude. In the highs and lows of a challenging profession he always kept his chin up and kept striving for the best he could be,” Shaul said in a statement. “Our time with Johnny was a privilege we would wish on everyone. He would literally give you the shirt off his back. After over a decade together, he will leave a hole in our hearts forever.”
Wactor's career spanned television, film, and short films. He appeared in over 160 episodes of General Hospital from 2020 to 2022. Before that, he built his resume with guest roles on shows like Army Wives, Westworld, Criminal Minds, and NCIS. Wactor also actively participated in short films, writing and starring in his own project, Broken Riders, in 2022.
The news of Wactor's passing sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. Tributes poured in from his former colleagues and co-stars. As per Deadline, General Hospital's official Instagram account expressed their heartbreak, calling Wactor "one of a kind" and a pleasure to work with. “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing,” read the post. “He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”

Sofia Mattsson, who played Wactor's TV wife on the soap, shared her grief on her own Instagram page. She described Wactor as genuine, caring, and incredibly talented, highlighting his kindness and positive impact on those around him. “My heart is so utterly broken… Johnny was the absolute best,” Mattsson posted on Instagram. “So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard-working and humble. With a huge heart that spread so much kindness and joy. He always made sure everyone around him felt seen, heard and loved. I admire the man he was so much and I’m a better person for having known him.”
She further wrote, “We shared so many special moments, both on and off screen, and I will forever cherish them deeply in my heart. You will be so incredibly missed Johnny… I’m sure you’re already busy taking care of everyone up there.”
