My Fault star Gabriel Guevara, Spanish actor, arrested at Venice Film Festival on sexual assault charge

Spanish actor Gabriel Guevara, who rose to fame with Prime Video’s hit teen film franchise Culpa Mia aka My Fault, was arrested at the Venice Film Festival on Saturday. It was reported that the actor was allegedly involved in sexual assault in France and that an active international warrant was out on him. There are no further details on the assault or the arrest provided by the Venice Police.

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, “Guevara was arrested by Italian state police in Venice on Saturday, Sept. 2, a day before he was set to receive a best young actor honor given out by Filming Italy on Sunday, Sept. 3. On hearing of his arrest, Filming Italy canceled the award, which they said was a “precautionary measure” pending the outcome of the case against him.”

Following the reports of his arrest, the official account of the festival released a statement which read, “#BiennaleCinema2023 #Venezia80 #LaBiennaleDiVenezia would like to specify that the presence in #Venice of Spanish actor #GabrielGuevara, that some press websites have recently reported as being under arrest, was not linked to any activity or production of the 80th Venice International Film Festival.”

Gabriel Guevara rose to fame with 2018 series Skam Spain. This was followed by his international acclaim with My Fault franchise, which will receive two sequels on Prime Video – Your Fault and Our Fault.
