Coming off Bohemian and Bond, I was wondering what to do next, and the studios were asking, and I mentioned that I’d love to play an action hero."
What sets The Amateur apart, according to Malek, is its subversion of the traditional action genre. "Believe it or not, this is the way to do it," he explained. "To subvert the genre, to find someone who you’d underestimate, the least expected hero doing extraordinary things for the sake of someone he loves, so it’s great." The film promises to blend multiple elements, with Malek describing it as "a love story, an action film, a thriller," while also boasting humor and delivering a powerful punch.
Malek’s passion for the project is evident, as he’s taken on dual roles behind and in front of the camera. After years of crafting the story and character, he’s ready to bring this unconventional hero to life. "It’s got everything," he teased, hinting at a dynamic performance that will showcase his versatility as an actor.
