In a surreal turn of events, Death presents him with a harrowing challenge: experiencing death repeatedly across 13 different lives. As Choi navigates this eerie game, he discovers that survival holds the key to living out the lifetimes of others. Amidst the relentless pursuit of impending demise, Choi grapples with the profound question of whether the lives he inhabits are worth saving. Fueled by societal pressures, lost love, and financial ruin, Choi's journey unfolds as a poignant exploration of redemption, resilience, and the untapped potential within the intricate tapestry of multiple existences. Death's Game weaves a captivating narrative that delves into the profound impact one life can have on countless others.

In an international roundtable conversation with the popular Korean stars, Bollywood Hungama spoke to Park So Dam and Seo In Guk on the unique connection between Choi Yee Jae and Death and how they formed that dynamic to capture the essence of this unique connection and tap into the emotional depth. Seo In Guk said, “I think from the very first encounter, the situation – at least for my character Yee-jae – comes as a surprise. It’s astonishing and unbelievable and it angers him a lot, too. I’m sure it’s also the case for Death, as well. So-dam might say this too, but I tried to be as loyal to the script as possible. And for my character…for him to make a very difficult decision and yet be denied his decision, and then being condemned to a harsh judgment and have to go through that punishment…it causes a lot of emotional discomforts. So throughout the process of expressing those emotions and the back-and-forth dialogue of the two characters, the story came to us naturally, I think, and the connection was built organically.”

Adding to the same, Park said, “The way I see my character, Death, is…she’s someone who really understands Yee-jae’s choices and his life more so than anyone else. And because she understands it so well, more than anyone else, she wants him to learn his lesson. That is why from Death’s perspective, she’s giving him these 12 opportunities before he’s condemned to hell. So it’s like he gets to go through 12 lives and deaths and experience them, albeit the pain with each death becomes stronger and more painful with each round. However, more so than anyone else, Death is someone who really wants Yee Jae to not make the wrong choices and wants him to live a fulfilling life, and that setup already lets you understand the character dynamics between the two. It’s all written into the script. A lot of the scenes with the two were shot in a space called “Death’s Hideout” and in that space, as the two interact, it all leads to the natural dynamic between the two.”

In the same roundtable, answering a question about Indian aspirations, Park So Dam said that she learnt a lot about India through her Indian friend Anupam Tripathi, who was her college friend at the Korean National University of Arts and had a broke out role in Squid Game. Seo In Guk also said that he would love to visit India someday.

Written and directed by Ha Byung Hoon, Death’s Game’s star-studded line-up Kim Ji Hoon, Super Junior’s Choi Siwon, Sung Hoon, Kim Kang Hoon, Jang Seung Jo, Lee Jae Wook, Lee Do Hyun, Go Yoon Jung, Kim Jae Wook, and Oh Jung Se. The first four episodes premiered on December 15 with part 2 of the show will arrive on January 5, 2024, on Prime Video.
