Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke reprises his terrifying role as The Grabber in this next chapter of supernatural suspense. Directed by Scott Derrickson and co-written with C. Robert Cargill, Black Phone 2 is based on a short story by Joe Hill. The film picks up four years after 13-year-old Finn escaped the clutches of The Grabber, becoming his only known survivor. But even in death, evil isn’t gone for good — and the black phone starts ringing once more.

Ethan Hawke returns as the menacing Ghost Grabber, now seeking revenge through psychological torment. This time, his focus shifts to Finn’s younger sister, Gwen (played by Madeleine McGraw), who begins having vivid visions and dream-like calls from the beyond — hinting at new victims being hunted at a remote winter camp called Alpine Lake. Now 17, Finn (Mason Thames) is pulled back into a world he tried to leave behind. Together, he and Gwen must face a force more dangerous than ever — a killer whose power only seems to have grown after death.

Reflecting on the deeper themes of the film, Ethan Hawke shared: “Ghost stories have always struck me as being less about the dead than about the living. They’re about what lingers—regret, anger, love. The first film was about two kids surviving a nightmare. This one is about how hard it is to move forward. The Grabber represents the trauma and fear that continues to haunt survivors, even years later.”

With a haunting mix of psychological tension and supernatural horror, Black Phone 2 builds on the legacy of the original, delivering another gripping chapter in the story. Black Phone 2 releases in theatres nationwide on October 17.
