Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur had the grand premiere of his upcoming directorial, What’s Love Got To Do With It held at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square on February 13 in London. The star cast including Emma Thompson, Asim Chaudhry, Sajal Aly, Jeff Mirza, Alice Orr-Ewing, and Oliver Chris were seen on the red carpet. Celebrities Minnie Driver and Monica Lewinsky were also in attendance.

While the stars were seen enjoying themselves, Hollywood veteran Emma Thompson was dancing to the beats of desi dhol beats at the screening. A dhol session was organized at the screening keeping up with wedding and love themes related to the film. A video has gone viral on social media where Emma was learning to groove to the beats along with Pakistani actress Sajal Aly.

The film is a story set between London and Lahore, love and friendship, tradition and iconoclasm. What’s Love Got To Do With It? is a cross-cultural British romantic comedy that follows a documentary-maker and dating app addict Zoe (Lily James), for whom, swiping right has only delivered an endless stream of Mr Wrongs, to her eccentric mother Cath’s (Emma Thompson) dismay. For Zoe’s childhood friend and neighbour Kaz (Shazad Latif), the answer is to follow his parents’ example and opt for an arranged (or “assisted”) marriage to a bright and beautiful bride from Pakistan. As Zoe films his hopeful journey from London to Lahore to marry a stranger, chosen by his parents, she begins to wonder if she might have something to learn from a profoundly different approach to finding love.

What’s Love Got To Do With It will release in theatres in India on March 6.
