The synopsis reveals that Foley's daughter (played by Taylour Paige) finds herself in danger, prompting a team-up with her father. This unlikely duo joins forces with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and some familiar faces from the Beverly Hills Police Department – Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton). Together, this group will face off against a conspiracy, bringing the trademark Beverly Hills Cop blend of action and humor to a new generation.

For those unfamiliar with the original films, Beverly Hills Cop was a massive hit in the 1980s. Murphy's portrayal of Axel Foley, a Detroit cop who goes undercover in the posh world of Beverly Hills, was both hilarious and action-packed. The film spawned two sequels, and the return of the franchise has been highly anticipated by fans.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F is directed by Mark Molloy, with a story by Will Beall. The screenplay is collaborative between Beall, Tom Gormican, and Kevin Etten.
