Disney unveils new posters for live-action Lilo and Stitch ahead of May 23 theatrical release in India

Walt Disney Studios has unveiled fresh new posters for its highly anticipated live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch, adding to the growing excitement around the film’s upcoming theatrical release on May 23, 2025. The posters, which spotlight the lovable duo—young Hawaiian girl Lilo and her mischievous alien companion Stitch—are now generating buzz among fans of the original animated classic as well as a new generation of Disney lovers.

Directed by Marcel the Shell with Shoes On filmmaker Dean Fleischer Camp, the live-action Lilo & Stitch promises to stay true to the heart of the original while offering a fresh cinematic experience. The film is being released in India in four languages—English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu—bringing the timeless story to an even wider audience.

Lilo & Stitch tells the poignant and hilarious story of Lilo, a lonely young girl in Hawaii, and Stitch, a genetically engineered alien fugitive who crash-lands on Earth and unexpectedly helps Lilo heal her fractured family. Young actress Maia Kealoha makes her film debut as Lilo, while Chris Sanders reprises his iconic role as the voice of Stitch. The chemistry between the two characters has already charmed audiences in the trailer, which has racked up widespread attention online.

The film boasts a diverse and talented cast, including Sydney Elizabeth Agudong as Nani, Kaipo Dudoit as David Kawena, Zach Galifianakis as the mad scientist Jumba, and Billy Magnussen as the neurotic Pleakley. Additional cast members include Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee, and Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham as the Grand Councilwoman.

The screenplay is penned by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright and Mike Van Waes, with Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin producing. The film’s executive producers include Tom Peitzman, Ryan Halprin, Louie Provost, and Thomas Schumacher.

Lilo & Stitch is set to deliver the emotional depth, humor, and heartfelt storytelling that Disney is celebrated for—this time with a live-action twist. The film opens in Indian theatres on May 23, 2025.
