BTS’ V & BLACKPINK’s Jennie break up ahead of his military enlistment: Reports

As per a report by JTBC on December 6, V is set to enlist in the military soon and the report stated that he and Jennie recently parted ways. Though their labels Big Hit Music and YG Entertainment never confirmed their relationship, they were captured together on numerous occasions. Their agencies have not yet responded to their alleged break-up reports.

In 2022, rumours of their relationship took over the internet. On May 22, pictures of individuals resembling Jennie and V together started circulating online. As Korean media outlet Soompi reported, a photo taken on Jeju Island featuring two individuals resembling Jennie and V recently spread on online communities, leading to rumours that the two are in a relationship. When reached out for a response by news outlets, Jennie’s agency YG Entertainment briefly commented, “We have nothing to say [regarding this matter]. We will inform you if we have a different response to share.” Since then both their agencies have remained mum on the relationship.

Neither Jennie nor V posted any photos of each other, however, many leaked photos surfaced online. YG Entertainment did release a statement in October 2022 after the photos went viral on social media. “We have refrained from mentioning the matter or making an official statement in order to minimize any further damage,” the agency said in its statement, per Korea JoongAng Daily. “However, there have been indiscriminate rumours, criticism, personal attacks, sexual harassment and violations of personal life sparked by those private photographs. The photos [of Jennie] distributed online were made public illegally, without Jennie’s consent. Sharing those images is an act of secondary victimization and can be subject to legal penalty. Please refrain from indiscriminately sharing those images.”

Earlier on December 6, 2023, it was reported that all four members of BLACKPINK had renewed their contracts with YG Entertainment. As reported by Soompi, the agency remarked, “After careful discussions with BLACKPINK, we signed exclusive contracts for group activities based on deep trust.”

YG Entertainment’s executive producer Yang Hyun Suk said, “We are happy to be able to continue our relationship with BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK will continue to do their best to shine even brighter in the global music market as artists representing not only our agency but also K-pop, and we send our unwavering support and faith for their future steps.”

Meanwhile, the last four members of BTS – RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook – are set to enlist in the military this month. Three other members Jin, SUGA and j-hope are already serving in the military of South Korea.
