BTS’ SUGA has released a pre-release track ‘People Pt.2 (feat. IU)’ worldwide today, ahead of his upcoming first official solo album D-DAY under his other moniker Agust D.

The album acts as the finale of the Agust D trilogy after his two previous mixtapes, Agust D (2016) and D-2 (2020). SUGA participated in the songwriting of all tracks and the overall production of D-DAY, sharing the unique sensibility and honest stories of Agust D as a true musician and producer.

‘People Pt.2 (feat. IU)’ is a boom bap rhythm-based pop R&B track featuring IU with her crystalline voice creating a beautiful balance overall. The track illustrates the constant repetition of states and emotions in relationships between people. The pre-release track arrived with an accompanying music video that gives off a setting similar to a behind the scenes film.

SUGA is depicted in the music video in a number of moments sipping coffee, getting lost in his thoughts, and fully immersing himself in music. The music video evokes a comforting and serene ambience that mirrors the overall mood of the song. The lyrics evoke the sentiments perfectly, "They say life's a struggle / Between resistance and submission / I say it's a struggle against loneliness / if you can't hold it back / it's okay to cry / You're already more than enough to be loved."

Towards the end of the music video for ‘People Pt.2 (feat. IU),’ SUGA gives an explanation of how the song was born. He says, “This song was written when I couldn't do anything due to Covid-19 and when I thought 'I lost everything'. So it conveys the message I wanted to tell myself.”

SUGA is set to release his solo album D-DAY on April 21.
