BTS' Jimin shatters record for highest first-week sales by a solo artist in history with 1.45 million sales for solo album FACE

Following the successful release of his first solo album FACE, BTS Jimin is being lauded for his dancing skills as well as his vocals. BTS’ Jimin chose to stick to R&B and hip hop for his solo debut album FACE.

Last week, the singer made his long-awaited solo debut with FACE and on the first day itself, the hot album had created history in Hanteo charts by becoming the first album by any solo artist to sell over a million copies on the day of its release.

According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, Hanteo Chart has now reported that FACE went on to sell an impressive total of 1,454,223 copies in the first week of its release (March 24 to 30), setting a record for the highest first-week sales of any album by a solo artist in Hanteo history.

The BTS member's first solo album FACE contains a total of 5 tracks including ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, ‘Like Crazy’, ‘Face-off’, ‘Interlude: Dive’, and ‘Alone’. As the report suggests, the pop star is now the artist with the eighth highest first-week sales overall, bested only by his own group BTS, TXT, Stray Kids, SEVENTEEN, NCT DREAM, NCT 127, and BLACKPINK.

FACE illustrates the honest feelings Jimin experienced during the pandemic. It represents Jimin’s breakthrough and growth achieved through vanquishing loneliness and struggles beneath the glare of stardom. Jimin finally stands at a new starting point after facing himself entirely, as suggested in the title of the album.
