Actor Simu Liu, who is known for the Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, has opened up about his fascination for Indian cinema, especially Bollywood. Ahead of the release of his next film, Barbie, Simu opened up about his admiration for SS Rajamouli's RRR, which bagged an Oscar for Best Original Song, 'Naatu Naatu.'
"RRR this year was so phenomenal. It was absolutely incredible. And, it blew me away," Simu said in an interview with Pinkvilla. He then compared the Bollywood brand of cinema with Barbie and said there are a lot of similarities between the two. "There's, you know, just the focus on musicality. There's such music, songs like singing and dancing, like, you know, the actors are, are performing and they're singing and there have to be such triple threats and yeah, I feel like, um, you know, I feel like it's such a natural thing for an actor to look at Bollywood and to want to participate."
Liu also said that he is keen on working in a Bollywood film and dancing to a song in the film. "I would love to work in a Bollywood film. I would love to dance to a song in a Bollywood film. I think it would be so much fun," he said.
Simu Liu is playing one of the versions of Ken in Barbie. Ken is a fictional doll and the male counterpart of Barbie. Apart from Ryan Gosling, actors John Cena and Scott Evans are also playing different versions of Ken in the film. However, Ryan will be playing the main Ken while Margot Robbie will be playing the titular role.
