The upcoming Cannes Film Festival will mark a historic moment for the South Korean female pop group aespa as the band becomes the first-ever to attend Cannes Film Festival 2023. According to the Korean tabloid Soompi, the group will be attending this year’s event as global ambassadors of luxury Swiss jewelry brand Chopard, who has been an official sponsor of the Cannes Film Festival since 1997. This makes aespa the first K-pop group to officially attend the prestigious film festival.

Other celebrities like Krystal from f(x) will also be present at the festival alongside Korean films. It is uncertain at this time whether Jennie from BLACKPINK will attend the festival for her new HBO series The Idol.

As reported by Soompi, on April 14, SM Entertainment confirmed aespa will make a comeback on May 8. The agency added, “More details on the release as well as promotion schedules will be announced soon. We ask for your anticipation and please give it lots of interest.”
aespa's forthcoming album will mark their first comeback in approximately 10 months, following the release of their second mini album Girls in July 2022. On May 2, aespa will drop their pre-release track ‘Welcome to MY World,’ before releasing their third mini album.
